Graffiti Hurts grant Program

Graffiti Hurts® is now accepting applications for its 2010 National Grant Program.

The Graffiti Hurts® National Grant Program aims to help communities kick-start or add on to a local graffiti prevention program. Grant funds may also be used for a one-time project that has the potential to help reduce graffiti vandalism in the community.

2010 Graffiti Hurts® National Grant Program

Grants of $2,500 are offered in three categories - community under 75,000 population, community between 75,000 and 250,000 population, and community over 250,000 population. The funds must be used for projects that will be initiated in Fall 2010 and completed no later than December 31, 2011.

Proposed projects can address graffiti prevention and education, eradication, or enforcement of local anti-graffiti laws. Programs that focus on prevention initiatives, including Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), and engaging and educating youth are encouraged. Businesses that make or operate graffiti removal equipment or technologies are not eligible.

Eligible groups

Any of the following groups are eligible to apply for a Graffiti Hurts® grant:

Nonprofit, Civic, and Community Organizations

Includes neighborhood groups (e.g., Neighborhood Watch), crime prevention associations, civic clubs or organizations, and other nonprofit groups.

Youth Groups/Schools

Includes any group of youth such as Girl/Boy Scouts, 4-H, Girls/Boys Clubs, YW/YMCAs, and students in a class, grade or school club.

Government Agencies

Includes city, county, state and federal government agencies, or subdivisions within these agencies (e.g., department of public works), and police departments or other law enforcement.

Entry Categories

Eligible applicants may enter one of three grant categories:

Community under 75,000 population

Enter under this category if you are an eligible group located or operating in a city with a population of 75,000 or under.

Community between 75,000 and 250,000 population

Enter under this category if you are an eligible group located or operating in a city with a population between 75,000 and 250,000.

Community over 250,000 population

Enter under this category if you are an eligible group located or operating in a city with a population of over 250,000.
